Digitally Perfect: Eccleston Square Hotel is a High-Tech Luxury Haven

21 February 2012
An article on HOSPA's website highlights the key role the VDA's Micromaster system played in helping to create 'Europe's most high-tech hotel'.:

"Eccleston Square Hotel has officially opened and is already garnering buzz for being Europe's most high-tech hotel. Set behind a striking late Georgian façade, this ingeniously renovated 39-bedroom hotel offers ground-breaking technology and brings to London something completely unique.

Systems Integrator, SM Contracts, has pulled out every stop to deliver the most advanced, state-of-theart bedroom interiors. The rooms are managed by VDA's Micromaster, an intelligent on-line system, which controls access to all of the guestrooms as well as the lighting, curtains and temperature within the rooms.

When guests reach their room, the Micromaster key card triggers a sequence of events to "welcome" them as they walk in for the first time: the curtains partially open and close, showing the guest that they are electronically operated, the "smart glass" bathroom wall turns opaque and the bathroom mirror TV turns on."

Friday Funday: Back to the Future
Eccleston Square Hotel brings hi-tech to a historic building

14th January 2012
In its review of the recent Eccleston Square Hotel, Hospitality Style magazine marked out VDA's Micromaster Vitrum controllers as a significant factor in contributing to the overall guest experience:

"As with many hotels we've covered recently, though, the standout element of the design is the guest experience. For this hotel, the impact comes from the technology, particularly in the guest rooms. Even here, the priority is in keeping the standout features from shouting. "The slim profile and small shape of the touch-control pads allowed them to be installed in quite tight spaces, " says VDA, the company who manufactured the Micromaster system that allows everything from temperature to curtains to lighting to be programmed via touch-control pads."

New from VDA: Customisable Room Entry Proximity Panels

VDA presents its latest Vitrum offering, a panel for installation outside the room door, that can be graphically customised to feature the room number.
Integrating the usual transponder reader with a "Do Not Disturb" notice and the "Make Up Room" icon the fascia also features a space for a back-lit screen-printed room number that also creates a lighting accent in hallways. This space can also be used to position other graphics such as the hotel logo.

The unit is double the usual size with the associated benefits of increased visibility and legibility. The result is an aesthetically beautiful and highly function device that eliminates the need for further room identification wall furniture.

As a result of careful ergonomic studies, VDA has also developed a Braille version of the device in response to the growing interests of a diverse range of particular customer needs.
